The Secretary of state is responsible for overseeing notary commissions within the State, as well as authenticating the signatures of California public officials and notaries public.
Acceptable forms of Identifications are:
- California Drivers License
- US Passport
- An Inmate ID card
- California ID
- A Canadian or Mexican Drivers License
- A US Military ID
- A valid Foreign passport
- An employee ID issued by California city or county
- An ID issued by a federally recognized tribal government
